Achievement

We created a Materials Chemistry laboratory course for our IGERT training program and this class has become institutionalized and is now available to both graduate and undergraduate students at our university. Perhaps more importantly, the class has become an integral part of a number of new programs at UCLA. For example, the undergraduate version of the laboratory is a core requirement of the newly created materials chemistry undergraduate major, which is one of 4 majors housed within the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UCLA. The graduate version of the lab is now a core requirement of the materials chemistry graduate specialization. This specialization is one of four new graduate tracks just approved this year for the Ph.D. program in Chemistry at UCLA.
