Achievement

Four students comprise the Student Leadership Council (three from Illinois and one from UC Merced). For the first year, students were selected by project leadership to represent the range of disciplines involved in the program and to maximize diversity. Three women and one male make up the SLC this year. The SLC has been involved in designing the seminar series, organizing the IGERT Engineering Open House exhibit, and planning a social event for the entire IGERT trainee cohort. The IGERT SLC meets jointly with an NIH training grant SLC to identify common activities and expand their networks to other departments and labs. They are planning a community outreach activity at the local Farmers Market beginning in May.
