Achievement

In March 2011 we organized a working lunch with pulmonologists from the VA Hospital associated with SBUMC. Lung pathologies emerging from veterans' exposure to unfamiliar soil and dust particles were discussed. The medical doctors shared their thoughts and recent experiences from their newer group of patients. The trainees became more familiar with the clinical presentation of health problems resulting from exposure to soil and dust materials, and discussed experimental approaches to analyzing and defining the contents and biological effects of such potentially harmful substances.
